Why I Write Songs That Speak to the Inner Child

Why I Write Songs That Speak to the Inner Child by Adrienn Rozner

When I write, I often imagine I’m writing to the younger version of me.
The one who was quiet but felt so much.
The one who tried to be “good,” who tried not to take up too much space.
The one who needed someone to say, You’re okay just as you are. You’re safe. You matter.

That little girl still lives inside me — and I know she’s not alone.
So many of us carry our inner child with us, whether we realise it or not. She shows up in the way we react to stress, in our fears, our patterns, our longing to be seen and loved without condition.

That’s why I write songs that speak gently, honestly, and hopefully — because I know that words matter. Especially when they’re sung.
Music can reach places inside of us that ordinary conversations can’t. It doesn’t ask us to explain or justify. It just offers presence. And presence is what the inner child has always craved most.

Sometimes when I’m writing, I catch myself tearing up — not because I’m sad, but because I know I’m finally saying the things I always needed to hear. Things like:

“You are more than enough.”
“You don’t have to earn love.”
“You’re allowed to rest.”
“You’re allowed to shine.”

My songs are my way of offering comfort, validation, and hope — not only to others, but to the little girl in me who once felt unseen.
And the most beautiful thing? I’ve seen how these messages speak to others too. Grown women, tired mums, sensitive souls — we all have an inner child. And we all deserve healing.

So if you ever hear one of my songs and feel something shift inside… know that it’s not just music. It’s a message — from me, from your younger self, from love itself.

With all my heart,
Adrienn 💛
