I’ve always found it fascinating that two people can listen to exactly the same song…
…and hear something completely different.
One person remembers their childhood.
Another thinks of someone they love.
Someone else simply enjoys the melody without knowing why it feels so comforting.
That’s the beauty of music.
It never tells us what to feel.
It simply creates space for whatever is already there.
I’ve experienced this with my own songs too.
Sometimes people write to tell me a lyric meant something completely different to them than it did to me when I wrote it.
And I love that.
Because once a song is shared, it no longer belongs only to its writer.
It becomes part of someone else’s story too.
Perhaps that’s what makes music so extraordinary.
The same melody can carry hundreds of different meanings…
and somehow, every one of them is true.
🤍 A song doesn’t ask us to feel the same thing.
It simply meets us where we are.
